Q. How to multiply decimal numbers?, jump to Calc

To multiply two decimal numbers A and B just multiply them without the decimal point and then re-insert the decimal in the result value.

Let's see an example if A = 2.5 and B = 5, then product of A and B ignoring the decimal point, is equal to A x B i.e 25 x 5 which comes out to be 125.

Now place the decimal at the correct point starting from the right, as in the input we only have one digit on the right of decimal so we'll start from the right of the result and we'll place the decimal after one digit, so the final result would be 12.5.

Input A and B for multiplying decimals.

Multiplying Negative Decimals

To multiply negative decimals just simply multiply them without sign and then place the sign according to negative numbers multiplication rule.

Let us see multiplication examples of negative decimals.

if A = -3.5 and B = 5 , then A x B i.e -3.5 x 5 is equal to -17.5, result is negative.

To more clearly understand use multiply negative decimals.
